TRAIL
The pattern serves all levels of competition. There are notations within the pattern regarding any specific
information that applies.  
This link will take you to the National Special Olympics Equestrian Rules.   The rules are found from
page 43 to 51. This is the course in effect for Equestrian Special Olympics held in Clovis New Mexico
2007.

There will be volunteers on the course to make sure the rider starts and the beginning and to escort the
rider to the out gate. As the current rider is exiting the course the next rider will come in and be waiting.

The pattern is ridden as follows:

Walk through open gate
Walk between saw horses
Stop at pole one - pick up ring
Carry ring - stop at pole two - place ring into bucket
Perform serpentine - start with cone on rider's right hand
Levels D and C walk the serpentine
Levels B and A trot the serpentine
Walk horse over logs
Walk over and through the box as drawn
After leaving the box rider will go to finish cone at specified gait
Levels D and C will walk
Level C will trot
Level A will lope on right lead
Bring horse to walk then leave the course through the little gate
