FEARFUL RIDERS
Fear is a feeling that is a part of our lives. With horses, we are dealing with large, living beings that do not think like we do. We can do
best if we realize that being with a horse is a relationship just like being with family and friends. We need to learn why horses do what
they do and respect that in the relationship - not expect them to be human and act that way. They are horses programed by nature to
survive through the ages. We need to learn to think like a horse for the very best in the relationship. Once we do that we realize the
horse is 'not out to get us'. The accidents and scares occur due to the human expecting human behavior from them OR deciding we are
the 'boss' and approaching the horse in that energy OR just plain ignorance of horse behavior. Let our gentle mares and geldings help
you.
We identify the source of your fear, acknowledge it and work through it. In many cases we will leave you with a horse that you like and
with whom you feel comfortable.
In the first rides you and your horse are allowed to just ride
around
to get acquainted and get the 'feel' of a horse.
We can lead the horse around for the first ride so you can just
concentrate on what you are feeling and not worry about any
control issues.
The horses here are held to a high standard of good behavior.
Our students are taught how to reinforce that expectation.,
All riding is supervised and in an enclosed area.
People who have started out with
fear have been able to overcome it.
